Mash Up – 2010

Mash UP – 2010

2010 saw the Playground involved in a very exciting project instigated by Caitriona McLaughlin,an associate director for a number of years.Caitriona has always admired the work of The Labryrinth Theatre company from New York, ever since seeing their production of Jesus Hopped the A train in London a number of years ago.She created links to the company and suggested a collaboration between Laryrinth artists and those from the Playground. And in the summer of 2010 ,at Bard College, upstate New York,at the annual Labryrinth summer intensive, the 2 groups met. There was a mixture of actors, directors and playwrights from both groups.Caitriona led the group, actors improvised on a given theme and the writers took this work and created scenes. It was a fascinating week and we are working now to bring the Lab artists to The Playground for a 3 week period to continue this process and hopefully produce as many scripts as there are writers in the room.
